Many banknotes were overprinted with the words "The Co-Prosperity Sphere: What is it Worth?" by the allied forces as propaganda leaflets in an attempt to discredit the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere and dropped from Allied aircraft over the occupied territories.
