2 piso. The obverse features portraits of renowned Filipino patriots and heroes while the reverse shows rare species of fauna, flora and marine life indigenous to the Philippines.
The 50 sentimo shows error in spelling "Pithecobhaga jefferyi" instead of "Pithecophaga jefferyi", also the
10 sentimo shows error in spelling "Pandaka pygmea" instead of "Pandaka pygmaea". The error were eventually corrected after it was reported to Central Bank of the Philippines, but somehow the
10 sentimo error in spelling occurred again in the year and .
On , the
25 sentimo, 50 sentimo,
1 piso and 2 piso were reduced thus it was renamed to Improved Flora and Fauna Series. The
5 piso coin was re-introduced to save on the printing cost of the widely circulated denomination for the banknote at that time, the 5 piso banknote.

Circular No. 81, demonetizing the Flora and Fauna and Improved Flora and Fauna Series coin and considering it demonetized after .
