Obverse : Arnis - featured on the Obverse is a known traditional Filipino Martial Art that is rooted in the culture and history of the Filipino people. At the time when the Spaniards ordered a total ban in the practice of Arnis, Filipinos concentrated in mastering the art through "Moro moro" plays and dances using a piece of hardwood called "Bali" or "Kamagong" or the use of rattan or cane known as "Oway".
Reverse : The Reverse design features the Security Plant Complex, a World-Class Facility under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas which for the last 28 years earned a reputation of Excellence in the printing of banknotes/ security documents, minting of coins, refining of gold and manufacture of state decorations and medals.
Note : In the Island of CEBU (Sugbu), the native martial art was put to test against the modern weapons of foreign invaders in the battle of Mactan in 1521. Cebu was the venue of a historic "First World Arnis Championship" in 1989.
