RETIREMENT OF CENTRAL BANK NOTES, "ANG BAGONG LIPUNAN" SERIES (2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, 50-, AND 100- PISO DENOMINATIONS)

Pursuant to Section 59 of Republic Act No. 265, as amended, otherwise known as the Central Bank Act, Central Bank notes of the "Ang Bagong Lipunan" (ABL) series shall be surrendered to the Central Bank of the Philippines or to its authorized agent banks, commercial banks, thrift banks (savings banks, development banks and stock savings and loan associations) and rural banks, for replacement or exchange at par with Central Bank New Design Series Notes/legal tender coins starting February 3, 1992. The said Central Bank ABL notes consist of the 2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, 50-, and 100-piso denominations. 

These Central Bank notes shall be legal tender for a period of one year ending February 2, 1993. After this period, they shall cease to be legal tender but may be exchanged or replaced at par and without charge with legal tender currency during the following three years ending February 2, 1996.

After February 2, 1996, the aforementioned Central Bank notes of the ABL series which have not been exchanged shall cease to be a liability of the Central Bank of the Philippines and shall be considered demonetized.
