PROCLAMATION NO. 32

DECLARING 2011 AS THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES COLLEGE OF LAW CENTENNIAL YEAR, PROVIDING FOR ITS COMMEMORATION, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, the University of the Philippines College of Law has achieved recognition as the country’s premier institution in providing quality legal education;

WHEREAS, the University of the Philippines College of Law has made significant contributions to national development since it was founded in 1911;

WHEREAS, in 2011, the University of the Philippines College of Law will celebrate its one hundred years of existence and pioneering in the field of legal education and research;

WHEREAS, in order to enhance awareness of its contributing commitment to academic excellence and service to the public, and its leadership in the development of the law, the legal profession, and quality legal education accessible and relevant to the needs of the Filipino people, it is fitting to accord due recognition to the 100 years of the University of the Philippines College of Law’s major accomplishments which have greatly impacted on the lives of the Filipinos as a nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BENIGNO S. AQUINO, III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 2011 as the “University of the Philippine College of Law Centennial Year.”

A university of the Philippines College of Law Centennial Commission is hereby created to assist the Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law and its faculty formulate and implement a plan of activities for the occasion. It shall be composed of members who are distinguished alumni of the University of the Philippines College of Law. The Commission members shall be appointed by the President of the University of the Philippines upon the recommendation of the Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Law through the Chancellor of University of the Philippines Diliman.

The Postmaster General is hereby directed to design, print and issue a special stamp commemorating the occasion.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
