The National Guard Philippine Islands (N.G.P.I.) was a militia that was created by virtue of Act No. 2715, . It would serve under General John Pershing in Europe during World War I. The Philippine Legislature, led by Senate President Manuel Quezon, offered the United States some assistance during World War I. It had 25,000 soldiers when it was absorbed by the National Army. N.G.P.I., however, was not able to see action, for it was only assembled into federal service on Armistice Day and would never leave the Philippines. After the war, the entire National Guard Philippine Islands unit was deactivated and formally disbanded in . Its officers were placed on the reserve list.
Remarks
Some authors in the past attributed it to being located in Pasay, Rizal. It is actually issued inside Camp Claudio, Paraaque, which at that time was part of Rizal.
