The Puente Colgante, originally called Puente de Claveria, was a suspension bridge that connected the Manila districts of Quiapo and Ermita across the Pasig River. Designed by Matia Menchacatorre y Cia and completed in , it was the first suspension bridge in Asia and the first toll bridge of its kind in the Philippines. Ynchausti y Cia received a franchise to operate it as a toll bridge for 90 years; however, the City of Manila bought the Colgante bridge on , for P42,500. The tolls were abolished on . It was replaced by the Quezon Bridge in .
